- As national restrictions ease across England, the government has announced extra business support measures to help businesses bounce back.
- Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is also set to receive £235,727 from the government’s Welcome Back Fund to support local businesses.
This week the government announced a comprehensive package of new measures that will support the safe and successful reopening of local businesses and give local economies a vital kickstart ahead of summer.
Building on the existing support for the retail and hospitality sectors, a new £56 million Welcome Back Fund will give councils the funds to support local businesses.
Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is set to receive £235,727 from the government’s £56 million Welcome Back Fund to support local businesses across Rotherham.
Local councils may also choose to use this funding to improve green spaces or provide more outdoor seating areas, markets and food stalls, in order to revitalise local high streets.
In addition, Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council has been selected as one of the first 70 local authorities eligible to receive support from the government’s High Streets Task Force.
