- Alexander Stafford MP has written to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Robert Jenrick to discuss how levelling up funds could be used to restore and rejuvenate Dinnington High Street in Rother Valley.
- A £4 billion Levelling Up Fund was announced by Chancellor Rishi Sunak in the 2020 Spending Review.
Alexander Stafford has welcomed the introduction of a Levelling Up Fund and its potential for investment in Rother Valley.
Alexander is keen to deliver further investment into the local area, particularly in Dinnington High Street.
Robert Jenrick has also visited Dinnington High Street and Alexander intends to work with the Department for Housing, Communities and Local Government to restore the historic character of the area, turbocharge the local economy and create local jobs.
Commenting, Alexander Stafford MP said:
“The £4bn Levelling Up Fund not only demonstrates this government’s commitment to revitalising left behind communities, but also has the potential to turbocharge economic growth locally by restoring our highstreets, allowing local businesses to thrive and creating more local jobs.”
“The ‘Towns Fund’ does not aid Dinnington High Street, which has seen little investment in recent years and suffered as more people shop online. It is important that our high street is revitalised, so that more local jobs and growth can be created. Targeted investment from the Levelling Up Fund could be the answer to this and I am keen to work with the government to make this happen.”
