Alexander Stafford appeared on GB News this morning to call out the Government’s cruel and cowardly attack on disabled people.
He made clear that while everyone agrees real benefit fraud must be tackled — and more support is needed to help people into work or better jobs — that’s not what Labour is doing.
Instead, Labour is targeting people on PIP — individuals who’ve already been through rigorous assessments just to get basic support to live, work, and care for their families. PIP isn’t a “soft touch” — and cutting it won’t save money, it’ll destroy lives.
Stafford warned that, like every other Labour cut or tax rise, this policy will end up costing more in the long run — while devastating those who rely on support the most.
At the same time, billions continue to be lost through fraud in Universal Credit — yet Labour is focusing on people who can’t even dress themselves without assistance.
He called the policy not just wrong, but performative, cynical, and morally bankrupt.
As a conservative, Alexander Stafford believes in a fair welfare system — one that protects the most vulnerable, rather than punishing them to look tough. This, he said, needs a serious rethink. And fast.
