Following his work as Member of Parliament, where he was recognised as one of the leading campaigners for local pubs, Alexander is supporting the new Save the Local campaign.
Alexander said: “We are lucky to have some great local pubs in Rother Valley, but it is very tough for them to thrive in the current climate. Labour’s tax rises are hitting our local pubs hard. Pub landlords are facing a tsunami wave of increased taxes and employee costs, and punters will pay more at the bar.”
“I’ve spoken to some local landlords and they are facing thousands of pounds in increased business rates alone! This is not sustainable.”
During the Budget, Rachel Reeves rubbed salt in the wound by announcing an insulting 1p off the price of a pint.
We need to hold Labour to account and help save our fantastic local community pubs right across Rother Valley.
